What are HOAs responsible for?

In condominiums, homeowners associations (HOAs) are responsible for all common areas. Common areas include but are not limited to: porches, balconies, door frames, and screens. In planned unit developments, the homeowners association is responsible for:

  • Painting exterior walls
  • Maintenance and replacement of the roof
  • Maintenance of some areas of the landscaping around the home

The HOA is responsible for any damage done to or caused by the maintenance of these areas.
